Expansion Shells

Expansion shells are used to secure single-sided blinds or similar structures to rock, concrete or similar load-bearing floors. The expansion housing assembly is securely secured by a sturdy protective sleeve to save installation time and prevent loss of parts during handling. The sleeve must be removed before installation. Corrosion protection can be achieved by hot dip galvanizing or galvanizing to AS1789-1984.

Product Description

Jiufu underground expansion shells are used for roof and rib support in mine working areas, as independent or auxiliary anchor support systems, and can also be used to connect various components of mining equipment. Common specifications are 32mm, 35mm, 38mm, 42mm, and 48mm. The material is cast iron and the surface treatment is sandblasting. Can be anchored in any rock formation that provides adequate anchorage. They are designed for anchoring in soft earth or hard rock. In good formations, the anchorage exceeds the ultimate strength of the steel anchor. All expansion shells require adequate formation in the anchoring area. The suitability of anchorage and the specific expansion shell used is best determined by physical load testing. The expansion shell is easy to install and immediately supports the work area by turning the bolt to create a point to anchor it into the hole. The casing is fastened to the rock, creating tension at the bottom of the borehole that transfers the load from the bolt head and plate to the rock through the casing.

Composition

Expanding shell anchors usually consist of sleeves, inner anchors, expansion bodies and reinforcement materials.

1. The inner anchor is the main component used to transmit loads and is often made of steel.

2. The expansion body forms a sealed cavity on the outer surface of the inner anchor through various methods.

3. External threads, rubber fixing rings, grooves or filling materials are used to fix the expansion body.

4. Reinforcement materials are generally epoxy resin mud coated with anti-corrosion materials.

Installation

1. Only use a rotary impact drill to drill holes and then blow them clean with compressed air.

2. The hole diameter should be controlled within the tolerance range specified by the expansion shell used.

3. Screw the threaded rod fully into the tapered portion of the extension housing as shown above.

4. If the expansion case comes with a temporary plastic collar, it should be removed before inserting into the hole

5. Before installation, tilt the expansion shell to avoid the risk of spalling.

6. Once installed, the expansion shell should be locked by turning the lever clockwise to "tilt" the two half-shells, without over-tightening the lever.

Advantages

1. The installation method is simple, which can effectively save time and labor costs, as well as the cost of composite materials.

2. For mining applications.

3. Extra anti-corrosion protection extends service life.

4. The bolt shank is made of plain AP 600 steel bar ø18,3 mm in compliance with ZN-97/AP-2 standards.

5. Various options for bolt forging heads are available.

6. A variety of plate types are available.
